Despite Donald Trump telling CNN’s Chris Cuomo in August that he believes Ronda Rousey would support his candidacy for President, the champion UFC fighter actually revealed to Maxim that she prefers the left — the far left.
“I’m voting for Bernie Sanders, because he doesn’t take any corporate money,” said Rousey, who voiced how impressed she was that the Vermont Senator has funded his campaign from small grassroots efforts.
Rousey continued, “I don’t think politicians should be allowed to take money for their campaigns from outside interests.” Rousey, the highly decorated mixed martial arts fighter who has never lost in her career, told Maxim’s Chris Wilson:
“If he doesn’t win against Hillary, then I’ll probably vote for a third party again. To be honest, in 2012 I was against both candidates and so I just picked any third party because I thought if more people voted for third parties then they’d have to take third parties seriously.”
Rousey noted that in 2012, she cast her third-party ballot in favor of Rosanne Barr. Rousey is just the latest celebrity to voice her support for the self described “Democratic Socialist” underdog candidate. Just last month, Seth MacFarlane introduced Sanders on-stage in Los Angeles.
