John Fetterman Tells Bernie Sanders to Pipe Down After Endorsing Graham Platner and ‘Pro-Hamas’ Dem in Michigan
Sen. John Fetterman (D-PA) said Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) needs to take a break from endorsing candidates after he backed scandal-plagued Graham Platner (D) in Maine and is now supporting “pro-Hamas” Abdul El-Sayed in Michigan.
Fetterman vented to Fox News about Sanders on Saturday. He told Saturday in America co-host Kayleigh McEnany the 84-year-old socialist was sabotaging the Democratic Party’s chances of winning elections by supporting terrible candidates.
“Humble yourself, Bernie,” Fetterman said. “You just pushed an accused rapist up in Maine and now you’re pushing essentially a pro-Hamas candidate that’s been anti-American and deeply anti-Israel.”
Fetterman referred to comments made by El-Sayed where he claimed Israel was just as “evil” as Hamas, among other gripes he has about Israel. He then said he was worried about a new Pew poll showing 44% of American Muslims support Hamas; Fetterman said he could not believe El-Sayed has not acknowledged the poll yet.
“That’s not someone I could ever support,” Fetterman continued. “These are the kind of candidates that Bernie keeps pushing. Look at the kinds of train wrecks that have been elected in New York too.”
Fetterman’s comments come as El-Sayed is in a tight Senate race with Rep. Haley Stevens (R-MI).
As for Sanders, he has become a go-to punching bag for Fetterman of late. Fetterman ripped Sanders last week for “pushing these Communists” he believes will undermine the Democratic Party nationally; Sanders notably backed fellow socialist and New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani during his successful 2025 campaign.
Fetterman on Saturday said if he were Sanders, he would stop endorsing candidates for a while and “recalibrate things.” His remarks follow Platner ditching his Senate bid earlier this month after he was accused of sexual assault by a woman he dated five years ago.
Meanwhile, El-Sayed was pressed on CNN last week for lying about saying he ever advocated for defunding the police.
