University Sets Up ‘Texting Lane’ for Students on Staircase
One Utah university has come up with a revolutionary solution to staircase traffic: setting up designated “lanes” for runners, walkers, and texters.
Yes, Utah Valley University actually set up lanes on a staircase in its wellness center:

The university started this as kind of a joke, with UVU’s creative director saying, “When you have 18-to 24-year-olds walking on campus glued to their smartphones, you’re almost bound to run into someone somewhere.”
But now these lanes might actually end up being useful to people who don’t like being stuck behind a horde of texting zombies.
