Unnerving Viral Video Warns of Link Between World Cup and Domestic Violence

The entire globe is enthralled with the World Cup, but one England-based charity is raising awareness about another big issue: domestic violence, and how it reportedly rises during the World Cup. Tender Education and Arts put out an unnerving viral video illustrating how domestic violence affects women in England whenever their team loses a World Cup match, utilizing the hashtag #StandUpWorldCup

The ad in question doesn’t show any actual violence itself, but it does show one woman’s horrified reactions to whatever mayhem is happening on screen.

The ad cites a study by Lancaster University finding that cases of domestic violence in England increased 38 percent whenever their team loses (and it also increases 26 percent when their team wins).
