US Airways Plane Flying From Paris to N.C. Diverted After Passenger Shows ‘Suspicious Behavior’
A US Airways airplane flying from Paris to North Carolina had to make an emergency landing today in Maine after a mid-flight security issue that some outlets are reporting as a passenger exhibiting “suspicious behavior.” According to the Transporation Security Administration, the flight was diverted “out of an abundance of caution.”
According to CNN, US Airways spokesman Andrew Christie said the flight was headed towards North Carolina. The TSA released a statement noting that the flight was safe:
“US Airways Flight 787 has landed safely in Bangor,” the Transportation Security Administration said in a statement. “TSA is aware of reports of a passenger who exhibited suspicious behavior during flight. Out of an abundance of caution the flight was diverted to BGR where it was met by law enforcement.”
Update: NBC News reports that officials are satisfied the passenger acting suspiciously on the flight “did not post a threat.”
