Vancouver Canucks Fans Finish US National Anthem When Singer’s Mic Cuts Out
Tuesday night at the Vancouver Canucks vs. St. Louis Blues game at the Rogers Center in Vancouver, singer Jim Byrnes stepped up to the microphone to perform the US and Canadian National Anthems, as is custom for all NHL games involving teams from both countries.
Towards the end of the US version, Byrnes’s microphone cut out and the song was interrupted. But in an incredibly cool show of support from our neighbors to the north, the fans finished the song in unison.
O’er the laaaaa-and of the freeeeeeee! And the home, of the braaaaaaaaaaaveeeeee!
The technical issues were not resolved in time for Byrnes to sing O Canada, so the fans went on and did that too.
