President Donald Trump will hold a rally in Huntington, WV on Friday to whip up support for Patrick Morrisey (R) in his campaign to replace Sen. Joe Manchin (D) as one of the state’s two senators. The rally is scheduled to begin at 4:00 p.m. ET.
Trump will more than likely use this rally in the hopes of breaking through the recent lull in voter enthusiasm, as seen in recent polls suggesting the numbers aren’t going up for several Republican candidates around the country. This slowdown was seemingly acknowledged by Trump on Thursday when he lamented that the Pittsburgh synagogue shooting and the attempted mail bombing campaign from one of his suspected supporters stopped the “incredible” momentum for Republicans.
Judging by his rhetoric from the last few days, Trump will keep trying to rile up crowds with his anti-immigrant talking points. On Thursday, Trump gave a speech from the White House in which he said that the military stationed on the U.S. southern border that if they see any migrants holding rocks, they should be treated as if they were carrying rifles. (He seemed to walk back those comments on Friday.)
Other things likely to come up during the rally include the 250,000 openings in the newest jobs report, the president’s usual gripes with the media, and his calls to roll back 14th Amendment birthright citizenship.
The rally is scheduled to begin at 4:00 p.m. ET. Watch above, via NBC News.
