WATCH LIVE: Trump Honors World Series Champion Houston Astros at White House

President Donald Trump welcomes the 2017 World Series champion Houston Astros to the White House on Monday.

The issue of sports teams visiting the White House has been a hot button topic in the age of Trump. The White House did not extend an invitation to the reigning NBA champion Golden State Warriors, after many players on the team said they didn’t want to accept such an invite if it were offered.

The Astros, however, appear to be mostly on board. Carlos Beltran is a notable exception. The retiring outfielder will not be in attendance due to family reasons. However, he has also been critical of the Trump administration’s response to Hurricane Maria.

“We’re very disappointed in the government that we haven’t gotten the same benefits,” Beltran said (via The New York Times). “Being a part of the United States, you expect at least to be treated the same way when tragedies like this happen.”

But many other star players on the team will be on hand including; Jose Altuve, Justin Verlander, and World Series MVP George Springer — to name a few.

The ceremony is slated to begin at 12:15 p.m. ET. Watch above, via the White House.
