Watch This Scripted Interview Fox & Friends Did With Ex-EPA Chief Scott Pruitt
In light of the news that Fox & Friends pushed journalistic standards to the brink a year ago, why don’t we take a stroll down Memory Lane and revisit their interview with former EPA chief Scott Pruitt?
The Daily Beast published a report Tuesday with of emails revealing Fox & Friends shared scripts and questions with Pruitt ahead of interviews. One of the scripts Pruitt’s team approved in advance was for a May 2017 segment on how the EPA was working to clean up toxic areas that weren’t decontaminated under Barack Obama‘s administration.
“There’s a new direction at the Environmental Protection Agency under President Trump—and it includes a back-to-basics approach. This after the Obama administration left behind a huge mess more than 1,300 super-fund sites which are heavily contaminated—still require clean-ups. So why was President Obama touted as an environmental savior if all these problems still exist?”
As you can see above, Pruitt received the setup almost word for word before speaking about environmental health crises and how Obama’s environmental record isn’t as great as his supporters say it is. Fox & Friends didn’t ask particularly difficult questions throughout the exchange, though they did offer Pruitt several opportunities for singing the president’s praises on leadership and environmental protection.
Fox News responded to the Beast report in a statement: “This is not standard practice whatsoever and the matter is being addressed internally with those involved.”
