WATCH: Trump Praises Jeff Bezos, Washington Post in Unaired 2013 Clip

Before Jeff Bezos and the Washington Post were the subject of Donald Trump‘s ire, he had kind words for both after Bezos bought the paper.

Five years ago today, ABC News’ Jonathan Karl spoke to Trump for an interview that included questions about his potential presidential aspirations and the notion lots of people held back then that the idea of Trump running for president is a joke. Karl even confronted him on his publicly professed birtherism.

But today Karl and ABC News shared a previously unaired clip from the interview in which Trump said this in response to a question about whether it’s a “good move” for Bezos to buy the Post:

“I think it’s a great move for him. I think it’s great for the Washington Post. I really like the Graham family, they’ve treated me so much. As you know, I just got the Old Post Office on Pennsylvania Avenue. We’re going to make what I think will be one of the world’s great hotels, it’s going to be an amazing project. The Washington Post was so supportive, so I’m a fan of the Washington Post, and I have to tell you I think that Jeff, who really is an amazing guy, I think he’s going to bring it to that next plateau. I think he’ll do great, I think it’s a great thing for the Washington Post

Now, of course…
