‘Watch Your Mouth’: Stephen A. Smith Absolutely Lost It This Morning on First Take
SLAM Magazine is counting down the top 50 players in the NBA leading up to the start of the season. On Wednesday, they revealed No. 15 on their list — New York Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony.
Stephen A. Smith does not believe there are 14 better NBA players than Anthony. He doesn’t believe it at all.
“It’s absolute blasphemy!” Smith said on First Take Thursday.
“Somebody needs to be drug tested immediately!”
Smith absolutely went off for seven minutes about the apparently unacceptable idea that Anthony was the 15th best player in the NBA, before seeming to conclude he was approximately the 10th best player in the league.
The real fireworks began when his colleague, Max Kellerman, engaged him and began bringing up players ahead of him on the list — asking Smith if he thought those players were better than Anthony. Things got so heated that at one point, Smith told Kellerman, “watch your mouth.”
