‘What Are You People Doing?’: Jerry Lewis Antagonizes Interviewer For 7 Excruciating Minutes

Jerry Lewis has had a few awkward on-screen moments in his day, but nothing compares to the recent interview he did with The Hollywood Reporter.

The comedian, who was an early fan of Donald Trump during the presidential primaries, was being interviewed for a series on Hollywood luminaries over the age of 90. He did not make it easy for Andy Lewis, who wrote, “[N]ine of the interviews went great. One was a trainwreck.”

For the sake of clarity, let’s buck formality — it’s a holiday week, after all; live a little, friends! — and use their first names from here on out.

Andy wrote that Jerry hated his photo shoot, the photographers, the crew personnel, and basically everything that happened before the interview portion even got started.

“What are you people doing?” he asked.

When asked if he has plans to retire, he continually interrupted with, “Why? WHY?”

Andy wondered if Jerry was “punishing THR by doing the interview but being as uncooperative as possible.”

In other words, it didn’t get better. Please, watch it above.
