White House Staffer Gets Assault Indictment After Shooting at Boyfriend
Last month, White House Special Assistant Barvetta Singletary was arrested on domestic violence charges after reportedly firing a gun at her boyfriend. Twenty days after the dispute, Singletary received her official indictment for assault.
Previous police reports said that Singletary asked her boyfriend, a policeman at the U.S. Capitol, to meet her at her home. From there, she managed to get hold of his gun and phone, threatening and confronting him about seeing another woman.
“You taught me how to use this. Don’t think I won’t use it,” Singletary said, according to the search warrant. From there, accounts suggest that the boyfriend fled from the house and called 911 after Singletary fired a shot at him when he wouldn’t give up his phone password.
A White House spokesman previously stated that they were aware of the squabble, placing Singletary on unpaid leave and revoking her access to the building.
