Tucker Carlson Says He Doesn’t Want to Fly on a Plane with a Vaccinated Pilot: ‘It’s Too Dangerous’
Tucker Carlson claimed on his show that he didn’t feel safe flying with pilots who are vaccinated against Covid-19, saying it was “too dangerous.”
On Monday’s episode of The Tucker Carlson Show, Carlson was joined by Sherry Walker, a commercial airline pilot of more than three decades. Their conversation touched on a number of topics relating to aviation, including transgender pilots, DEI, and the Covid-19 vaccine.
When the talk pivoted to the vaccine, Carlson explained his desire to avoid vaccinated pilots.
“But the Covid vax has turned out to be so dangerous,” Carlson began. “It killed so many people. It’s a fact. I mean, it’s in the VAERS program. These are not conspiracies. It’s like, that’s a fact, that it does make you wonder, would you want — I don’t want to fly in a plane with vaccinated pilots because I think it’s too dangerous. But are there numbers on this?”
Walker then claimed a study she had done revealed that vaccinated pilots have a higher risk of heart complications.
“What I found is commercial airline pilots in the United States are suffering pericarditis and myocarditis at rates exceeding the CDC’s national average,” Walker said, “and I proved it to a 98% plus-or-minus four in that regard.”
Other studies on the subject, however, appear to contradict Walker’s claims. One study, independently researched by Dr. Julian Yin Vieira and published in June 2024, listed a multitude of factors contributing to increased rate of heart complications — including “the demanding nature of the profession, irregular work schedules, and exposure to various stressors such as altitude changes, jet lag, and long working hours.” Vieira stated that “the pooled analysis found no significant increase in the risk of myocarditis among vaccinated pilots compared to unvaccinated pilots.”
Vieira’s study has not been peer reviewed at the time of writing, but numerous other peer-reviewed studies have found an increased risk of heart issues including myocarditis from Covid-19 itself, far in excess of the “very rare” cases detected post-vaccine.
