Alyssa Farah Griffin Says Trump Camp Did Biden ‘Huge Favor’ Before State of the Union Address by ‘Setting Expectations So Low’

Alyssa Farah Griffin accused Donald Trump’s campaign of doing President Joe Biden a “huge favor” and setting him up for success ahead of the State of the Union address.

Griffin, a former communications official in Trump’s White House, theorized on Friday’s The View that the focus by Trump and his allies on Biden’s age helped to set expectations so low that the president would look good no matter what.

She noted an ad released by a pro-Trump Super PAC on the day of the State of the Union. The 30 second spot questioned whether Biden, 81, could survive a second term in office. Biden’s campaign called the spot “sick and deranged.”

Griffin called Thursday an “objectively good night” for the president and said it was the “first time” she was convinced Biden could beat Trump in November.

The ad, she said, and criticism of Biden’s mental state only assisted the president.

“The Trump camp did him a huge favor by setting expectations so low. They put out this ad the morning of that basically is like, he’s going to keel over and die, so by not tipping over at the dais he was already outperforming expectations,” Griffin said.

She praised Biden for bringing up Ukraine aid and a bipartisan border bill that has stalled in Congress.

The View hosts heaped universal praise on Biden on Thursday, with Joy Behar calling it “fantastic” and Sarah Haines saying she was clapping at home. Ana Navarro was so excited about the performance that at one point her praise turned into a “four more years” chant the audience joined in on.
