‘An Absolute Ghoul’: Trump WH Comms Director Attacks ‘Washed Up’ Katie Couric

White House Communications Director Steven Cheung went off on longtime journalist Katie Couric in response to a line of questioning about Charlie Kirk.

On Thursday’s episode of Next Question with Katie Couric, the host was joined by U.S. Sen. John Fetterman (D-PA). During their conversation, the topic shifted to Kirk when Couric asked a series of questions about the conservative commentator and his assassination in September. When Couric questioned the Trump administration’s decision to fly Kirk’s body on Air Force Two, Fetterman deflected and simply said that was the choice they decided to make. When Couric asked Fetterman if he took issue with any of Kirk’s prior comments, the senator said he despite his disagreements, he chose not to criticize his words in the aftermath of his death.

Couric persisted, telling Fetterman that some considered Kirk’s rhetoric to be “extreme.” Fetterman maintained that nothing could justify what happened to him.

In response to that clip online, Cheung accused Couric of trying to “justify” the shooting and even called her a “washed up idiot.”

“This washed up idiot @katiecouric is an absolute ghoul,” Cheung tweeted. “She tries to justify the horrific assassination of Charlie Kirk. Disgusting people like Katie should be shamed and embarrassed forever.”
