Bill Maher: Dems Looking Weak In Fight With Trump Admin, ‘Do Something or Stop Talking About It’

HBO’s Bill Maher called Democrats out on their hot air politics on Friday night, telling them to “do something” about the constitutional crisis they keep talking about or shut up because all this inaction is making them look weak.

“I feel like we are in a permanent state of constitutional crisis,” Maher began before listing off the crises du jour.

“Taxes, no, you can see his taxes, Steve Mnuchin says there is no legitimate legislative purpose [but it is] not for him to say,” he said before mentioning Deutsche Bank and the redacted Mueller report as other instances of the constitutional chaos.

The HBO host then offered this advice for Democrats: “Either do something or stop talking about it. Because I think you are just making yourselves look weak. You are making yourself look like people who talk and talk and don’t do anything.”

Maher’s remarks drew audience applause.

Panelist Van Jones then suggested that it was all the Chicken Little histrionics that have led us to this point where people are not taking the current situation seriously even though it is.

“Part of the problem that we have now is that we have had this almost Chicken Little kind of dynamic on the left where it’s like literally every tweet is the end of the republic,” Jones explained. “And so now that we actually have arrived at that place, people don’t take it seriously.”
