‘Bless His Heart’: Mike Johnson Responds to Colleague Who Called Him ‘Full of Sh*t’ by Declaring Democrats Are in ‘Panic Mode’

House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) responded to a Democratic colleague calling him “full of shit” with a chuckle and some shots at the state of the Democratic Party on Tuesday.

At a press conference, Johnson was asked about comments from Rep. Jim McGovern (D-MA) referring to the House Speaker as a “liar” and “total shill” for President Donald Trump. In particular, McGovern took issue with Johnson blaming Democrats for not coming to the negotiation table to reach a deal to fund the government. The government is currently funded through mid-March.

“First of all, he’s full of shit. He’s a liar. And he’s a total shill for Donald Trump and Elon Musk,” McGovern told The Hill earlier this week.

Johnson hit McGovern with a “bless his heart” as he laughed off the insults and attributed McGovern’s comments to the Democratic Party’s “flailing.”

Johnson said:

Bless his heart. Look, the Democrats are flailing. I get it. They’ve engaged in some pretty crazy rhetoric in the last couple of weeks — you know, we’re going to shut down the city, we’re at war, we’re going to fight them in the streets, you’ve all seen that covered. It’s because they’re kind of in panic mode in the party over there. They, as I’ve noted, don’t really have a vision or a strategy. They don’t have a leader. Their platform has been openly repudiated by the American people in the election outcome. They’re really in a tough spot and what people tend to do in politics in that way is they lash out at leaders on the other side.

The House Speaker added that he doesn’t take the talk “personally.”

“I don’t take it personally. I don’t think he can back up a single thing he said,” Johnson said. “What we’re doing is delivering on the mandate that the American people gave us.”
