Dana Perino Blames Biden for Data Showing 75% of Iowa Republicans Believe Immigrants ‘Do More to Hurt the Country’

Dana Perino blamed President Joe Biden for Iowa Republicans’ negative attitudes toward immigrants.

On Monday’s edition of The Five, Sandra Smith relayed some numbers from a Fox News poll conducted among Republicans in the Hawkeye State. It turns out that 75% of respondents said that immigrants in the U.S. “do more to hurt the country.” Meanwhile, just 22% said “do more to help the country.”

“If I were a Democrat that supported immigration into this country, I think a lot of us do,” Perino said. “All of our families came from somewhere. We all know that legal immigration can work and that you can have amazing success stories like an Elon Musk, for example. But I would be pointing the fingers at Joe Biden because as president of the United States, he has overseen the situation where the Democrats are completely befuddled as to why he doesn’t try to address this issue. You have blue city mayors tearing their hair out, not sure what to do and the White House says it’s fine. And now you have 75% of voters here are saying that immigrants in the U.S. do more to hurt the country? I would put that directly on the commander-in-chief.”

Republicans have long hammered Biden on the border and for the increase in undocumented immigrants showing up at the southern border.

Former President Donald Trump, who is the de facto leader of the Republican Party and the presumptive GOP nominee, said in an interview last month that immigrants are “poisoning the blood of our country.” He infamously kicked off his 2016 presidential election campaign by calling Mexicans “rapists.” As president, he also implemented a ban on travel into the U.S. from certain Muslim-majority countries.

Trump is widely expected to win the Iowa caucuses and the Republican nomination, as he is the runaway frontrunner in poll after poll.
