De Blasio Mocks Cuomo’s ‘Big Hands’ in Response to News Governor Had Dartboard With His Face on It
New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio mocked Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s (D-NY) alleged obsession with his hand size on Friday — taking a swing at the governor in response to the claim that he has a dartboard with de Blasio’s face on it.
During de Blasio’s latest Covid-19 briefing, CNN’s Mark Morales asked the mayor about Ronan Farrow’s recent piece in the New Yorker, which, among several other allegations, included the claim that Cuomo had a dartboard with de Blasio’s face on it in the governor’s mansion.
Morales specifically questioned if the mayor had any reactions to the claim — the exchange occurring roughly 33 minutes into the briefing.
“Well I’ll tell you the first thing I thought, we know that Gov. Cuomo, like Donald Trump, has been obsessed with the size of his hands,” he cracked. “So I thought, with those big, big hands, how could he possibly hold those tiny, tiny darts?”
The mayor switched tones following the jab, calling the whole thing “juvenile.”
“It’s just like frat house humor,” he added, “It’s not something you would like to see from someone who has seriously leadership responsibilities, but it is what it is, Mark.”
Morales asked the mayor if he could expand on his experiences with the governor, or on anything specific regarding the governor, in light of the numerous allegations that have continued to surface in recent weeks.
“I’m not going to add anything specific that I have not said already,” he said. “I just think that we see this consistent pattern and what it really needs to be understood as is something that has an impact on the lives of millions of New Yorkers.”
The mayor went on to condemn Cuomo’s handling of nursing homes residents throughout the pandemic, “and the cover up of the truth,” adding, “that affected people’s lives. People’s lives were lost. Families have lost a loved one.”
“These women that have come forward, I admire them, and we should respect them, were put through hell and mistreated, and are now speaking up,” he added. “And then what happened — a tax payer funded effort by the governor’s office to try and smear the women who acted as whistleblowers.”
He reiterated that these are all examples of Cuomo’s behavior that people have seen before, adding that it’s getting “worse and worse.”
