In a public display of appreciation on Twitter/X, Rep. Jared Moskowitz (D-FL) reached across the aisle to express his regret that his Republican colleague in the House of Representatives, Rep. Patrick McHenry (R-NC), would not be running for reelection in 2024.
McHenry, who was thrust into the spotlight this past fall as the acting Speaker of the House after a small faction of Republicans ousted former Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA), announced his retirement from Congress after serving for 20 years.
Moskowitz shared his disappointment about the impending exit, calling it a “huge loss” for the People’s House that left another seat open for “more divisive, chaotic do nothing members.” And he also added a joke about McHenry’s height — and his own:
This is a huge loss for Congress and a sign of things to come around here. Reasonable, rationale people are leaving giving way to more divisive, chaotic do nothing members.

For reference, Moskowitz is roughly the height of a Smurf, at least according to Chairman of the House Oversight Committee Rep. James Comer (R-KY), who can probably literally see over Moskowitz. McHenry is slightly taller than James Fry, the son of Rep. Russell Fry (R-SC), who appears to be about four years old.
