Famed political analyst Dave Wasserman took to X, formerly Twitter, just minutes after polls closed in New Hampshire to make a call: former President Donald Trump will beat former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley in the state’s primary.
Then, minutes after 8 p.m., the Associated Press confirmed Trump did indeed win the Granite State.
Early data from New Hampshire polling centers showed somewhat of a tight race between the Republican frontrunner and his former ambassador to the U.N.
Yet Wasserman, a senior editor at Cook Political Report, who is known for his almost prophetic calls (made independently) during elections nights, said the three magic words at 7:20 p.m., before all the polls were closed in the Granite State.
“I’ve seen enough: Donald Trump (R) wins the New Hampshire Republican presidential primary, defeating Nikki Haley (R),” Wasserman said in a post on X.
Despite the early call in New Hampshire, Wasserman noted minutes before his call that the victory will not be a total blowout as some of the former president’s supporters predicted.
“Based on the initial precincts reporting, this isn’t going to be a total Trump blowout,” he added.

Haley’s campaign has spent significant resources and time campaigning in New Hampshire hoping to close the large lead that polls showed for Trump. After endorsing Haley, New Hampshire’s current Gov. Chris Sununu has spent months campaigning with her across the state and defended her candidacy in media appearances.
According to Real Clear Politics, before voters started heading to the ballot box, Trump led with 55.8% support on average.
