Eric Adams Tears Into Biden for Refusing to Meet: ‘Cities Should Not Be Handling National Problems’

New York City Mayor Eric Adams tore into President Joe Biden on Tuesday for not doing enough to help New York with its ongoing migrant crisis.

During a press conference, Adams said that despite the fact he and his team made “ten trips to Washington, D.C. asking and pleading for help,” New York City “did not get that help,” and that he hadn’t been able to meet with the president since 2022.

He continued, “It baffles me. You know, New York City is the economic engine of the state and the country,” before adding, “I am really pleased that we are now getting a chorus of other cities that are joining us, who are now part of our coalition.”

Adams told reporters, “That coalition is going to continue to grow because these cities deserve better. I’m not only talking about New York. Chicago, Los Angeles, El Paso, Brownsville, you know, all these cities. Houston. You know, cities should not be handling national problems.”

Later on in the press conference, Adams protested, “The federal government said to New York City, ‘We’re not going to do our job, you do our job. You take care of 4,000 people a week, Eric, you and your team.'”

He said, “What’s fascinating is that those who should have been helping us in government every step of the way, just critiqued us.”

“I’m not seeing the light at the end of the tunnel from the federal government,” Adams concluded.

In June, after struggling to house the number of migrants entering New York City, Adams proposed that local residents could house the migrants in exchange for money.

A month later, Adams declared, “We have no more room in the city and we need help,” and in September, he warned that the number of incoming migrants would “destroy” the city.

“This issue will destroy New York City. Destroy New York City. We’re getting 10,000 migrants a month,” Adams protested. “Now we’re getting people from all over the globe have made their minds up that they’re going to come through the southern part of the border and come into New York City.”
