Sen. John Fetterman (D-PA) pulled no punches on Monday in describing Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) who is holding up a bill that would provide military aid to Israel, Ukraine, and Taiwan.
“We’re only here because of just one prick,” Fetterman told CNN’s Manu Raju. “And he decides that the rest of all of our schedules and our lives and holding up this bill getting to the House for all of this aid. It’s incredibly frustrating and there’s no work being done. It’s just bad performance art.”
On Sunday, the Senate voted 67-27 to advance a $95 billion supplemental foreign aid bill, but there remains staunch opposition within the GOP against it. Paul “ is using arcane and complex chamber rules to slow down the process into the weekend,” CNN reported ahead of the vote as the Kentucky senator works overtime to slow the process.
“I think we should stay here as long as it takes. If it takes a week or a month, I’ll force them to stay here to discuss why they think the border of Ukraine is more important than the US border,” Paul told CNN on Thursday.
Raju noted the bill is still expected to pass the Senate sometime mid-week.
Paul slammed his fellow Kentucky senator on Monday, telling Raju, “I can say right now, he doesn’t represent me, or conservatives in Kentucky or conservatives across the United States. He’s doing the bidding of Schumer and Biden.” Paul was referring to Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY) who has long supported additional aid to help Ukraine push back against the Russian invasion.
