‘He’s a Weirdo!’ Raucous Crowd Mocks JD Vance During Rousing Speech by Josh Shapiro
Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro sent a crowd in Philadelphia into raucous mockery by merely mentioning Sen. JD Vance.
Shapiro kicked off a rally for Vice President Kamala Harris and her new running mate, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz. The Pennsylvanian was on Harris’s shortlist, but she ultimately chose Walz.
“We’re not going into the future with Donald Trump,” Shapiro said. “A guy who has made clear, he’s told us what he wants to do. More chaos, less freedom. And you know, friends, it was Maya Angelou who said it. ‘When they tell you who they are..'”
The governor held for a pause and the crowd finished the quote.
“Believe him!” the audience members shouted.
“I believe him!” Shapiro continued. “And I don’t wanna see that. And Donald Trump? Well, he’s now got a partner with him. Y’all see that guy? Yeah, JD Vance. He’s not exactly off to a good start. I think we can all agree on it. But I think part of the reason why he’s not off to a good start is this. And it’s serious. He doesn’t know who he is. And he’s not being honest with himself, so, he can’t be honest with the American people. He can’t!”
As he spoke, the crowd began chanting, “He’s a weirdo!”
“So, if I hear you right, and I think I do, sure, you’re chanting ‘He’s a weirdo,'” he said. “Which means, if you’re chanting ‘He’s a weirdo,’ then you’ve heard of my good friend and our next vice president, Tim Walz!”
Walz is largely credited with pinning the “weird” label on Vance and Trump. Vance has had a rough rollout, as polling last week showed he has a net favorability rating of -15.
