The House Republican Conference received backlash on Tuesday after it published a social media post in Spanish.

“House Republicans believe in every American’s potential to thrive by embracing the power of work,” wrote the House GOP in an X post, followed by the Spanish translation, “Los Republicanos en la Cámara creemos en que cada ciudadano americano tiene el potencial de prosperar y beneficiarse de las oportunidades de trabajo.”

The post quickly received backlash from Republicans and conservatives, who pointed towards President Donald Trump’s March executive order designating English the sole official language of the United States.

“Whoever is operating this account should be fired immediately,” reacted The Blaze host Auron MacIntyre. “America First! Now press one for English… You don’t hate the Republican Party enough.”

“The fuck is this shit??” responded The Blaze host Sara Gonzales, while The Federalist CEO Sean Davis expressed his dissatisfaction with a “stop it” GIF.

The House Republican Conference has previously made social media posts in Spanish, including to congratulate Trump following his January inauguration.

“Felicidades, presidente Donald Trump y vicepresidente JD Vance,” wrote the House GOP on X following Trump’s inauguration. “Que Dios bendiga los Estados Unidos de América.”

On March 1, President Trump signed an executive order “designating English as the official language of the United States.”

“To promote unity, cultivate a shared American culture for all citizens, ensure consistency in government operations, and create a pathway to civic engagement, it is in America’s best interest for the Federal Government to designate one — and only one — official language,” the executive order read. “Establishing English as the official language will not only streamline communication but also reinforce shared national values, and create a more cohesive and efficient society. Accordingly, this order designates English as the official language of the United States.”
