House Hearing Goes Way Off-the-Rails as Comer Repeatedly Tells Democrat to ‘Shut Up!’ — And MTG Accuses Him of Being Antifa
A House Oversight Committee hearing went completely off the rails on Thursday as news broke that Sen. Alex Padilla (D-CA) had been forced to the ground and handcuffed by federal agents while trying to interrupt a Kristi Noem press conference.
“The chair now recognizes Mr. Frost,” began Committee Chair James Comer (R-KY).
Rep. Maxwell Frost (D-FL) replied, “Mr. Chair, I have a unanimous consent request.”
“A unanimous consent request to enter into the record an NBC article: ‘Senator Alex Padilla removed from news conference with Homeland Security Secretary Noem,'” added Frost.
Comer said, “All right, without objection, so ordered.”
Frost added, “I have another one from The Hill article: ‘Padilla forcibly removed from Noem press conference.'”
Comer said, “Without objection, so ordered.”
Frost added another, “And I have a third one from Axios: ‘Democratic Senator forcibly removed from DHS press conference.'”
Comer agreed, “Without objection.”
“Mr. Chair, I also want to know if you can commit to working with us so we can subpoena—” Frost continued as Comer cut in, “You’re out of order. The chair recognizes Mr. Greene.”
Frost demanded, “I have a point of order. No, I have a point of—”
Comer replied, “State your point.”
“We need to subpoena—” Frost replied, as Comer interrupted, “That’s not a point of order. The chair recognizes—”
Frost, Comer, and Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) then began talking over each other as Frost could be heard saying, “He was thrown to the ground.”
“Reclaiming my time. Reclaim my time! Reclaiming my time. Democrats can’t follow the rules, can’t follow the laws, can’t follow the rule, can’t follow the law,” jabbed Greene.
“We need to subpoena Kristi Noem,” Frost demanded.
Greene shot back, “There’s a privilege of the majority, and that means we’re in charge, not your side, because you lost the election because you supported the destruction of our country.”
“Will you commit, on the record, to work on subpoenaing Kristi Noem?” Frost continued.
The three continued to talk over eachother as things began to heat up, with Comer clearly getting frustrated as Greene delighted in the exchange.
“Will you commit, on the record, to subpoenaing Kristi Noem because a U.S. Senator was just thrown to the ground and detained in his own state?” Frost demanded.
Greene replied again, “Democrats can’t follow the rules. You’re out of order. Can’t follow the law.”
“Shut up!” Just shut up! Shut up!” Comer demanded as Frost continued.
“No, you don’t. No, you’re not going to tell me to shut up!” Frost hit back.
Comer then said to other members, “He’s been out of order six times. He is trying to get on MSNBC. You probably knocked somebody off MSNBC to get on there.”
Greene then added, “I think it’s because he’s been arrested as a former Antifa member, right? Antifa.”
Comer demanded, “Back to order, Ms. Greene.”
“He’s a former Antifa member, Mr. Chairman. No surprise,” Greene added.
“Who’s a former Antifa member? Me?” Frost demanded.
Greene said, “Yeah, you!”
Frost then demanded, “I ask that these words be taken down.”
Comer tried to get Greene to ask her questions, which she started to do as Frost again kept asking Greene’s Antifa remark be taken down.
Comer said, “All right, we’ve got to suspend. There has been a parliamentary move. They said they weren’t going to do that.”
