Jill Biden Says ‘It’s Obvious Joe Will Win’ After Reporter Mentions Poll Showing Him Losing to Trump in Battleground States
First Lady Jill Biden declared it’s “obvious” her husband President Joe Biden will win November’s election after a reporter asked about a poll showing Donald Trump leading Biden in multiple battleground states.
The first lady joined CBS Mornings on Wednesday as a surprise to Missy Testerman, the winner of the National Teacher of the Year award. The interview primarily focused on teaching and education, but quickly turned to the 2024 presidential election at the tail-end.
“People know the choice in this election. They can choose chaos of they can choose, you know, steady, wisdom, experience,” Jill Biden said.
Gayle King asked if she was at least a “little bit worried,” and the first lady dismissed concerns, saying she’s confident her husband will be reelected.
“But when these polls like The Wall Street Journal one land in the White House and he’s losing all the battleground states —” Tony Dokoupil said in response before Biden jumped back in.
“No, he’s not losing in the battleground states,” Biden said.
“All but one,” Dokoupil responded.
“He’s coming up and he’s even or doing better,” Biden said. “You know what? Once people start to focus in and they see their two choices, it’s obvious that Joe will win this election.”
A Wall Street Journal poll released this week showed Trump leading Biden in support in six of seven swing states. The pair drew even in Wisconsin, but the former president led in Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, North Carolina, Nevada, and Pennsylvania.
Morning Consult data released this week found Biden leading Trump overall by two points. They are tied among independents, according to the data, with each drawing 34% support. Another 19% said they want a different option, while 12% said they are unsure.
