Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) reacted to President Donald Trump announcing the U.S. bombed three nuclear sites in Iran on Saturday by urging Americans to pray that terrorists do not attack “our homeland.”

“Let us join together and pray for the safety of our U.S. troops and Americans in the Middle East,” Greene wrote on X in the wake of Trump’s announcement. She added:

Let us pray that we are not attacked by terrorists on our homeland after our border was open for the past 4 years and over 2 Million gotaways came in. Let us pray for peace.

Trump announced at 7:50 pm on Saturday night, “We have completed our very successful attack on the three Nuclear sites in Iran, including Fordow, Natanz, and Esfahan. All planes are now outside of Iran air space. A full payload of BOMBS was dropped on the primary site, Fordow. All planes are safely on their way home. Congratulations to our great American Warriors. There is not another military in the World that could have done this. NOW IS THE TIME FOR PEACE! Thank you for your attention to this matter.”

Greene, a close Trump ally, posted some 30 minutes before the announcement as well, writing, “Every time America is on the verge of greatness, we get involved in another foreign war. There would not be bombs falling on the people of Israel if Netanyahu had not dropped bombs on the people of Iran first. Israel is a nuclear armed nation. This is not our fight. Peace is the answer.”

Greene, alongside fellow Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY), has been a vocal voice against U.S. intervention in the Israel-Iran conflict. Greene has also regularly voted against pro-Israel legislation in the House. Greene voted against all three of the Israel aid bills following the October 7th attack, as well as a bill to force arms sales to Israel to go forward during the Biden presidency.

Greene attacked the more hawkish wing of the GOP in early May, writing, “I represent the base and when I’m frustrated and upset over the direction of things, you better be clear, the base is not happy.”

“I campaigned for no more foreign wars. And now we are supposedly on the verge of going to war with Iran. I don’t think we should be bombing foreign countries on behalf of other foreign countries especially when they have their own nuclear weapons and massive military strength,” Greene wrote at the time.
