Two Secret Service agents have been suspended after they were caught on camera fighting outside former President Barack Obama’s home.
Footage of the two female Secret Service agents brawling outside Obama’s home went viral on social media this week after it was published by RealClearPolitics national political correspondent Susan Crabtree.
The incident reportedly took place at around 2:30 am last Wednesday, with one of the women calling for a supervisor to come to the scene “immediately before I whoop this girl’s ass.”
According to Crabtree, who cited two unnamed sources in the Secret Service, the officer “who made the call was upset that her shift replacement was late and assailed her verbally and physically when she finally did arrive to relieve her.”
No one in the Obamas’ Washington, D.C. residence was reportedly woken by the altercation.
In a statement to TMZ on Tuesday, the Secret Service announced that the two agents had been suspended pending an investigation.
“The U.S. Secret Service is aware of an on-duty altercation that occurred between two Uniformed Division officers at approximately 2:30 a.m. on May 21,” they said. “The individuals involved were suspended from duty and this matter is the subject of an internal investigation. The Secret Service has a very strict code of conduct for all employees and any behavior that violates that code is unacceptable. Given this is a personnel matter, we are not in a position to comment further.”
