Trump Press Secretary Tells Newsmax She’s ‘Lost Faith in the United States’ Over ‘Communist’ Hush Money Trial

Donald Trump’s national press secretary declared on Newsmax that she’s “lost faith in the United States” thanks to the former president’s hush money trial in Manhattan.

Trump attended his first day of trial on Monday. He’s facing more than 30 felony counts over a hush money payment to adult film actress Stormy Daniels to cover up an alleged affair. Trump has denied any wrongdoing and the affair.

Trump press secretary Karoline Leavitt joined Newsmax’s Rob Finnerty and Sharla McBride on Wake Up America on Tuesday to discuss the trial ahead of the former president’s second appearance in court. Leavitt argued it’s “nearly impossible to get a fair jury in this case” as long as it’s held in Manhattan.

Leavitt echoed Trump’s claims of political bias in Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg and others, calling the trial a “sham.” She also repeated Trump’s claim that he may be unable to attend his son Barron’s high school graduation, though the judge has thus far made no actual ruling on the upcoming date.

Judge Juan Merchan sternly warned Trump on Monday that he could face possible jail time if he does not attend every day of his trial.

She later took things further and declared the trial has made her lose “faith” in the country.

“This [trial] is a communist show trial in the middle of the media capital of the world. It is cruel. It is unjust,” she said. “Frankly, I have lost faith in the United States of America. We no longer have an equal system of justice watching President Trump being treated like a criminal in this city that he helped build, by the way, when there are real criminals running free in the streets.”
