The House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform has called on the freshly ousted former attorney general Pam Bondi to testify before Congress, declaring she “must answer for her mishandling” of the Epstein files.

On Thursday, President Donald Trump confirmed via Truth Social that Bondi would be leaving the attorney general’s office for a private sector job, calling her a “loyal friend” who has “faithfully served.”

Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche is set to step into the role until a permanent replacement is found.

Rumors of Trump’s displeasure with Bondi’s work have circulated for weeks, particularly related to her handling of the files related to Jeffrey Epstein. The Department of Justice notoriously missed the deadline to release millions of pages from the files by over one month.

The Oversight Committee Democrats took to X to post a statement on Thursday afternoon from their ranking member, Rep. Robert Garcia (D-CA), emphasizing that Bondi must be held accountable for her handling of the case.

“Attorney General Pam Bondi has been leading a White House cover-up of the Epstein files,” the statement reads. “She has weaponized the Department of Justice to protect Donald Trump and put survivors in harm’s way by exposing their identities. She will not escape accountability and remains legally obligated to appear  before our Committee under oath. She must answer for her mishandling of the Epstein files and special treatment she has given Ghislaine Maxwell. Oversight Democrats has been leading serious investigations into Bondi and Secretary Kristi Noem. If they think we are moving on because they have been fired, they are gravely mistaken.”

Garcia reshared the post on X to underscore his point: “Pam Bondi and Donald Trump may think her firing gets her out of testifying to the Oversight Committee. They are wrong — and we look forward to hearing from her under oath.”

On March 18, House Oversight Committee Chair James Comer (R-KY) announced he had subpoenaed Bondi as part of a probe into “possible mismanagement of the federal government’s investigation” of Epstein.
