Neal Katyal Predicts Trump Will ‘Attack His Own Daughter’ After ‘She Reveals Damaging Information About Him’ in Court
Former Acting Solicitor General Neal Katyal said he suspects Donald Trump will eventually try to discredit his daughter Ivanka Trump after she testifies against him in court.
On Friday, Judge Arthur Engoron, who is presiding over New York’s civil fraud case against Trump, ruled that the former first daughter must testify in court.
Last month, Engoron issued a partial summary judgment concluding that Trump and the Trump Organization defrauded banks and insurance companies by inflating its assets to obtain more favorable loan terms. New York Attorney General Letitia James is seeking $250 million in fines and the revocation of Trump’s business licenses.
Ivanka Trump served as an executive vice president with the company until leaving to work in the White House in 2017.
On Friday’s Deadline: White House on MSNBC, host Nicolle Wallace noted that multiple former Trump attorneys have already flipped on him in his criminal case in Georgia centered on the 2020 election.
“Ivanka Trump – what does she do when she goes in court?” she asked.
“You’re exactly right. The chickens are coming home to roost,” Katyal replied. “Initially, the cross-examination… by Trump of Ivanka and the two sons will be friendly, but, you know, Ivanka has already provided some testimony against her father. And it wouldn’t shock if there’s a lot more to come. And so the real question to me… is how long is it gonna take Donald Trump to attack his own daughter if, as I suspect, she reveals damaging information about him.”
John Heilemann, who was also on the panel, speculated what those attacks might look like.
“A moment’s gonna come when Trump’s gonna say, ‘Ivanka Trump? Barely met her. Hardly know her,'” he cracked. “‘I don’t know who that person is. I barely recognize that woman. She’s barely my daughter, just for a second.'”
