Former President Donald Trump brutally mocked Bill Barr, who served as attorney general during Trump’s first administration but has emerged as a harsh critic in recent years, for endorsing him despite their spat on Wednesday night.
Barr first revealed that he would be supporting Trump last Wednesday on America’s Newsroom. He later told Fox News’ Neil Cavuto that he would support Trump in his upcoming rematch against President Joe Biden because Biden is the “greater threat to democracy.”
“Well, you know, I’m not happy with the choice. I think this is a terrible choice for the country, but it is a choice. At the end of the day, we have to select between two different individuals. And I’ve said all along that I think it’s my duty to pick the person I think will do the least harm to the country,” said Barr. “And I think that that to me, that’s clearly Trump and the Republican administration, which I think is important. I think, you know, getting control over the border, stopping the lawlessness in our cities, building up the strength of the United States and an ever, more dangerous world, stop the avalanche of regulation that is strangling, business and our and our technological superiority. These are critical things that have to be done. And I think that, we’ll get them done under a Trump administration.”
Trump “thanked” Barr for the endorsement on Truth Social:
Wow! Former A.G. Bill Barr, who let a lot of great people down by not investigating Voter Fraud in our Country, has just Endorsed me for President despite the fact that I called him “Weak, Slow Moving, Lethargic, Gutless, and Lazy” (New York Post!). Based on the fact that I greatly appreciate his wholehearted Endorsement, I am removing the word “Lethargic” from my statement. Thank you Bill. MAGA2024!
Before announcing that he would support Trump, Barr slammed Trump for the “racist overtones” of his rhetoric and argued that he wasn’t especially intelligent, observing that “his verbal skills are limited.”
