Trump Rages in Falsehood Riddled Rant Minutes Before High Stakes Meeting With Newly Elected Canadian Prime Minister

Canada

President Donald Trump attacked the United States’ northern neighbor and ally Canada with false and inflammatory rhetoric mere minutes before meeting with newly elected Prime Minister Mark Carney.

Tensions between the two nations have been escalating since Trump started insisting that Canada become the 51st state, a salvo that many initially saw as a trolling joke but has been repeated so often and seriously that it’s raised questions about Trumps mental acuity.

Trump took to Truth Social ahead of his meeting with Carney and reiterated the bizarre falsehood that the United States subsidizes Canada to the tune of $200 Billion. Trump wrote:

I look forward to meeting the new Prime Minister of Canada, Mark Carney. I very much want to work with him, but cannot understand one simple TRUTH — Why is America subsidizing Canada by $200 Billion Dollars a year, in addition to giving them FREE Military Protection, and many other things? We don’t need their Cars, we don’t need their Energy, we don’t need their Lumber, we don’t need ANYTHING they have, other than their friendship, which hopefully we will always maintain. They, on the other hand, need EVERYTHING from us! The Prime Minister will be arriving shortly and that will be, most likely, my only question of consequence.

Of course, the U.S. does not subsidize Canada. Rather, the U.S. presently has a trade deficit with its neighbor, which many economists argue is mutually beneficial to both economies.  Trump negotiated a trade agreement, the USMCA, during his first administration.
