Trump Takes Victory Lap After Court Rules He Can Ban AP, Which He Says Won’t Stop Lying About the ‘GULF OF AMERICA’

President Donald Trump celebrated a legal victory over the Associated Press on Friday night, claiming the outlet “refused to state the facts or the Truth” about the “GULF OF AMERICA.”

Trump renamed the gulf on his first day in office. He banned the wire service from the Oval Office after it refused to update its guidelines to adhere to his designation of the international body of water.

In a post on his Truth Social platform, Trump wrote, “Big WIN over AP today. They refused to state the facts or the Truth on the GULF OF AMERICA. FAKE NEWS!!!”

Trump was reacting to a CNN report that a federal appeals court found that his ban on the AP could continue.

DC Circuit Judge Neomi Rao wrote the 2-1 ruling in favor of the White House.

“These restricted presidential spaces are not First Amendment fora opened for private speech and discussion,” the opinion stated. “No one suggests the Oval Office is a traditional public forum such as a park or sidewalk held in trust for expressive activity.”

A representative for the AP told CNN, “We are disappointed in the court’s decision and are reviewing our options.”

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt also declared victory over the AP in a post on her X page.

VICTORY!

As we’ve said all along, the Associated Press is not guaranteed special access to cover President Trump in the Oval Office, aboard Air Force One, and in other sensitive locations.

Thousands of other journalists have never been afforded the opportunity to cover the President in these privileged spaces.

Moving forward, we will continue to expand access to new media so that more people can cover the most transparent President in American history rather than just the failing legacy media.

And by the way
@AP, it’s still the Gulf of America.
