Breitbart’s Matthew Boyle has started questioning President-elect Donald Trump on his decision to rescue TikTok, and calling out an appointee as “suspicious.”

Trump announced on Sunday he would intervene upon entering office and temporarily halt the U.S. ban on TikTok for not divesting from it’s Chinese owner ByteDance. The company had nearly a year to divest ownership from it’s Beijing parent company.

Boyle, who has supported Trump throughout the 2024 election, attacked Alex Wong for “aggressively pushing” Trump to be more protective of TikTok. Wong is set to become the deputy National Security Adviser in Trump’s White House.

The Breitbart reporter then pointed out that Wong previously worked for former Speaker Paul Ryan.

“I know for a fact the person aggressively pushing the TikTok protections from Trump on day one is this guy named Alex Wong, who I’ve never met before (which is very strange in GOP politics and usually not a good indicator for the person), who’s going to be the deputy National Security Adviser,” Boyle wrote.

“In addition to many other jobs, this guy worked for PAUL RYAN AND MITT ROMNEY in the 2012 campaign,” he added. “Anyway, I find it very suspicious that a PAUL RYAN person is coming into the Trump WH and aiming to protect the CCP on day one. Very strange.”
