‘You Bet Your Ass!’ Chris Sununu Exuberantly Endorses Nikki Haley In New Hampshire, Insists She Has the ‘Energy’ to Win
New Hampshire Gov. Chris Sununu (R) endorsed Nikki Haley for president on Tuesday evening with a very enthusiastic speech in the first in the nation primary state.
“Alright! Holy cow! The whole world popped out,” began the popular Republican governor, whose endorsement has been highly sought after in the primary.
“You guys excited? You should be,” Sununu continued exuberantly, adding:
This is New Hampshire. This is the first in the nation primary. This is pretty awesome. This is the home of ‘Live Free or Die,’ right? This is where we are. Granite Strong. We are 603 proud. Look, I’ve had an awesome time during this entire process, right? I’ve been able to travel the state with a lot of different candidates, kind of to be able to talk to folks. And that opportunity has been just absolutely amazing, really over the last year I’ve been doing it. And there’s this. I don’t know where she is. She’s here somewhere. There’s a sweet, sweet, older, oh, hey, how are you? Well. Well, it wasn’t you, but I’ll get to you in a minute.
There was a sweet older woman who has come to a lot of events, and I saw her coming in here, and she said, ‘So are you going to finally endorse Nikki Haley for president?’
You bet your ass I am! And let’s get this thing done. We are all in on Nikki Haley, undoubtedly. And you can feel the energy. You can feel it.
Sununu, who has been a sharp critic of former President Donald Trump, then went on to make the case that the primary is only really beginning now as voters tune in — even if Trump is way ahead in the polls.
“Look, you can feel the energy around the state. You can feel it. Across the country, people are getting engaged. I always told the national media, Don’t worry, everything picks up after Thanksgiving,” he argued, adding:
That’s when the action happened. It isn’t just because I’m endorsing her. It’s because people are getting involved. People are coming out of the woodwork to come to the town halls, to fill the rooms, to see what’s really happening out there. And when you look at her poll numbers, when you look at the ground game that Nikki has laid, it’s been absolutely unbelievable. Now, it doesn’t just happen because you spend money, doesn’t just happen because you run ads. This is New Hampshire. We have a bit of a higher threshold than that, don’t we? Right. We do. We have a higher standard. So we want our candidates to travel the state. Right. To look us in the eye, to talk about the issues and listen to to what what we’re discussing.
And ‘Live Free or Die,’ I say this a lot. A lot of people have heard it, but it means so much. It’s what Nikki gets. It’s not for cool words on a license plate.
Sununu went on to list Haley’s attributes and then turned to the stakes for the race to secure the GOP nomination in New Hampshire.
“And the rest of the country is looking to New Hampshire. We always take pride. We never choose yesterday’s news. Right. And that’s what these people say to me. They say, look, governor, we’re like you. We were with Trump in ‘16. We were with Trump in ‘20. But things are too critical,” Sununu continued, adding:
So we’re just going to say a polite thank you for your service, Mr. President. We’re moving on because this is New Hampshire and we go forward. We go forward. So let’s not miss this opportunity. The entire country is watching. With all due respect to Iowa, it’s a caucus. Please. Right. This is where the voters come out in droves. We are going to have a record number of voters in this election.
Sununu took one last swipe at Trump and added in a jab at President Joe Biden’s age:
Over the last eight years, we’ve had a we have a president that’s more concerned about nap time. We have a president that’s worried about his jail time. We got to be able to move forward. That’s drama. That is chaos.
Do you think we’re going to have a president that can tackle inflation, secure the border, fiscal responsibility, draining of the swamp, all these things we heard about but weren’t done. That’s going to take 120% of any president’s time. So we’re not going to elect a party, bring somebody forward that is constantly distracted with whatever nonsense and drama that former president brings to the table.
