Paul Pierce Drops the N-Word Live on Undisputed While Talking About Knicks Guard Donte DiVincenzo
Monday’s episode of Undisputed got off to an awkward start when Paul Pierce slipped up and said the n-word during a discussion about the New York Knicks.
The Undisputed crew began the show by talking about Game 4 between the Knicks and the Indiana Pacers. After winning the first two games at home, the Knicks dropped the next two in Indiana to allow the Pacers to even up the series heading into Game 5.
Pierce predicted that the last two losses were a sign that the Knicks’ season will be coming to a disappointing end soon. His argument was that the contributions from the team’s role players — particularly Donte DiVincenzo — weren’t sustainable.
The way he went about wording that, however, was less than ideal for a live sports talk show.
“I just didn’t think what they were doing was sustainable,” Pierce said. “Look at this. The first three games — look at this n*****, [Keyshawn Johnson] — DiVincenzo was averaging 29 points per game, 50% from the field, 56% from three.”
While Johnson didn’t react to the slip, Skip Bayless stared at him for a few seconds before subtly dropping his head.
Since joining the show, Pierce has had his share of questionable moments on air. During the NCAA Women’s Basketball Tournament, he bizarrely praised Caitlin Clark for playing well as a “White girl.”
