WATCH: Young Yankees Fan From Viral Video Meets His Hero in Touching Moment

A young New York Yankees fan was given an Aaron Judge home run ball by an opposing fan Tuesday night, bringing the boy to tears of joy. By Wednesday night, he was chopping it up with his hero in the dugout.

The Yankees invited 9-year-old diehard Derek Rodriguez and Toronto Blue Jays fan Mike Lanzillotta to come meet Judge prior to the team’s series finale in Toronto Wednesday after a viral video of Lanzillotta giving Rodriguez the souvenir swept the nation.

The touching moment was eventually seen by the entire Yankees organization and graciously, they extended the invitation to Rodriguez and Lanzillotta to come down to the dugout prior to Wednesday’s finale.

More tears of joy came from Rodriguez as he met his favorite player in an extremely touching moment.

The video shows Lanzillotta hanging back at first as Rodriguez is overwhelmed by seeing Judge just feet away from him, clutching onto him like a baby koala before the Yankee extends a handshake to the Blue Jays fan, presumably thanking him for the kind gesture the night before.

“I used to be in (Rodriguez’) position,” Judge told reporters. “Rooting on my favorite players and team…so that was a pretty cool moment that I definitely won’t forget.”
