A senior adviser for former President Donald Trump’s campaign attacked GOP Senate candidate Larry Hogan over his reaction to Trump being found guilty by a Manhattan jury in his hush money trial.
On Thursday, a Manhattan jury found the Republican nominee for president in 2024 guilty of 34 counts for falsifying business documents related to hush money payments made to adult film actress Stormy Daniels during the 2016 election. Prosecutors argued the payments were concealed in order to keep them quiet during the election campaign.
Trump lashed out at the verdict, claiming he is “very innocent” and vowed to appeal the decision while attacking the Judge Juan Merchan.
Hogan, the former governor of Maryland who is currently running for the Senate as a Republican this November, urged members of his party to remain calm and “respect” the verdict.
“Regardless of the result, I urge all Americans to respect the verdict and the legal process,” Hogan wrote to his followers on X, formerly Twitter. “At this dangerously divided moment in our history, all leaders—regardless of party—must not pour fuel on the fire with more toxic partisanship.”
He added, “We must reaffirm what has made this nation great: the rule of law.”

Chris LaCivita, a GOP political strategist and adviser to Trump, fired back at Logan’s statement.
“You just ended your campaign,” LaCivita wrote in a short but threatening response.
