Anderson Cooper Doesn’t Appreciate Trump Accusing Him of Giving Dems Debate ‘Softballs’

cooperAnderson Cooper sounds like he’s sick and tired of Republicans saying he lobbed softballs at Democrats at their CNN debate.

Over the past week, in their complaints about the Republican debate, lots of GOP candidates claimed that Hillary Clinton and the other Democrats got softballs. Ted Cruz in particular cried at the debate that the Democratic debate was basically all about “which of you is more handsome and wise.”

Now, frankly, that’s unfair to Cooper, who asked a lot of tough questions, especially of Clinton. He grilled her on her frequent flip-flopping, her emails, and her claim that she’s a champion of the middle class, among other things.

Trump said it was all softballs today, but Cooper noted tonight how, just a day after the debate, Trump tweeted that he did a good job with a tough but fair debate.

Cooper suggested that may just be Trump “taking the temperature of his followers” and going along with the “fashionable” trend of attacking moderators following the CNBC debate.

Jeffrey Lord pointed out to Cooper how he got plaudits from the right for the debate, while Van Jones agreed with President Obama that the Republicans can’t be talking tough on foreign policy and then “cry” about unfair debates.
