Attorney General Pam Bondi Demands Jasmine Crockett ‘Apologize Immediately To… Shareholders of Tesla’
Attorney General Pam Bondi once again acted like an enforcer for Tesla Motors as she called on Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) to apologize to several groups – including the company’s shareholders.
Tesla CEO Elon Musk has used his legally hazy status at the unofficial “Department of Government Efficiency” to enact a series of sweeping layoffs and funding cuts, even though those funds had already been appropriated by Congress in many cases. Since the inauguration of President Donald Trump, Musk has acted as a White House adviser, though he has not relinquished the billions in contracts he has with the federal government. In fact, he may be seeking more, as the Trump administration claims Musk will police his own conflicts of interest.
Tesla has seen its sales crater in the U.S. and internationally, with the stock losing around half its value since peaking in December.
Musk’s prominent government role, which Trump gave to him after the CEO spent nearly $300 million to return Trump to the White House, has enraged many liberals, who have taken to protesting Tesla showrooms across the country. In a handful of instances, violence has occurred as showrooms, vehicles, and charging stations have been vandalized. Bondi has pledged to prosecute those acts as if they were “domestic terrorism.”
Last week, she announced charges against three individuals in three separate vandalism cases. She appeared on Monday’s edition of Hannity on Fox News, where she addressed recent comments from Crockett, which Sean Hannity aired before Bondi’s appearance.
“On March 29, it’s my birthday,” Crockett said during a #TeslaTakedown livestream on YouTube. “And all I want to see happen on my birthday is for Elon to be taken down.”
Hannity noted that those comments elicited a warning from the attorney general, who told Crockett to “tread carefully.” The host also played a clip of Crockett saying Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) should be “knocked over the head, like hard.”
Bondi joined the show and acknowledged that Crockett said she did not mean Musk should be physically harmed. Nevertheless, the attorney general added said Crockett should apologize to the entire country, especially Tesla shareholders:
But, however, your words have consequences. And what happened after she said that about Elon Musk – she’s a Texan – and in her own home state after she said that, this morning three explosive devices were found in Austin, Texas. So she needs to unequivocally denounce the violence. She must apologize immediately not only to all Texans, but to our country, to the American shareholders of Tesla because she is promoting violence.
The attorney general, who regularly appears on Fox News, accused Crockett of “using her public persona, her public platform to increase her followers, to increase her significance.”
