CNN’s Don Lemon: It’s ‘About Time’ Obama Said the N-Word
During his interview with podcaster/comedian Marc Maron, President Obama said that racism doesn’t just mean someone going around and dropping the n-word. Except he used the actual n-word, not “n-word.”
That really took people aback and set Fox News off, but CNN’s Don Lemon said this afternoon it was “about time he said it.”
Lemon argued Obama gave absolutely the right context to be able to talk about these issues without worrying about political correctness. And Lemon should know, he’s had lots of on-air debates about the n-word and has said it himself on the air a few times.
And as for who gets to say it, Lemon felt it’s okay for journalists of any color to use the word, if they feel comfortable about using it, in the right context of providing all the relevant information to viewers.
