Colbert Presents a Star Wars Trailer for the ‘Broken Hateful Dweebs’ Who Harassed Kelly Marie Tran
If you keep up with online fandom, you may have heard that Kelly Marie Tran––one of the stars of Star Wars: The Last Jedi––deleted all of her Instagram posts after being bullied and harassed online.
After joking that “it’s good to see Roseanne staying busy,” Stephen Colbert came to her defense and said, “They attacked this beautiful, talented young actress for her ethnicity, her appearance, and her sex. And may I remind you: Kelly Marie Tran is the first lead woman in a Star Wars movie who is not white.”
A bunch of racist nerds bullied Star Wars actress Kelly Marie Tran off social media. As Yoda would say, “Wrong with people, what the fuck is?”

And so Colbert presented a mock trailer for Star Wars Episode IX: Shut the Hell Up You Broken Hateful Dweebs specifically designed to piss off said dweebs even more.
After multiple reports of the online harassment, Last Jadi Rian Johnson criticized online “manbabies” and said this:
On social media a few unhealthy people can cast a big shadow on the wall, but over the past 4 years I’ve met lots of real fellow SW fans. We like & dislike stuff but we do it with humor, love & respect. We’re the VAST majority, we’re having fun & doing just fine. https://t.co/yhcShg5vdJ

And then Mark Hamill himself posted this:
