Dan Abrams Slams Fox’s Maria Bartiromo For Promoting a ‘Coordinated, Disgraceful Attack on Law Enforcement’ in Biden Impeachment Inquiry

The Republican push to impeach President Joe Biden has floundered since the arrest of now-discredited FBI informant Alexander Smirnov, but now their focus has pivoted — to law enforcement. Dan Abrams spent part of his NewsNation show on Tuesday calling out GOP leaders who are now attacking the FBI and other agencies and the news “anchors” who give them a platform.

Abrams, who is also the owner of Mediaite, first laced into House Oversight Committee Chairman Rep. James Comer (R-KY) and House Judiciary Committee Chairman Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) for their new smear campaign against FBI Director Christopher Wray and special prosecutor David Weiss, both of whom were appointed by Republican former President Donald Trump. But Abrams also singled out Fox Business anchor Maria Bartiromo for being “the place you go, apparently, when you’re looking to land cheap shots on law enforcement.”

Yesterday, Bartiromo spoke to Miranda Devine, a New York Post columnist who bolstered the idea that not just the FBI leadership and its agents but also corrections officers in the prison where Smirnov is being held should be looked at with suspicion. Abrams pointed out that Bartiromo, rather than push back, “encourages all of this dangerous nonsense.”

He continued:

Quick note about Bartiromo. It’s a little bit inside baseball, but she has the title of “anchor” at Fox News. The network has always been vocal about how their opinion hosts like Sean Hannity and Jesse Watters are so different from their news anchors like Bret Baier and Martha MacCallum. Let’s be clear, Baier and MacCallum do credible, serious journalism. But Fox News absurdly puts Maria Bartiromo in the group, with the Baiers and the McCallums, which means the network’s news division should have to answer for this anti-law enforcement stuff she and her guests are peddling.

But Maria Bartiromo is just one part of this larger, coordinated, disgraceful attack on law enforcement. It’s a ham-fisted effort to muddy the waters, keep the public from dwelling on the fact that the investigation just took a serious and perhaps fatal blow. Chairman Comer and Congressman Jordan have led a totally unfounded smear campaign against law enforcement leaders. And worse yet, the everyday men and women who serve and protect us all.
