‘Duuude…’ Brianna Keilar Nails Jim Jordan for Lecturing About Contempt for Congressional Subpoenas
CNN’s Brianna Keilar was bemused that Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) still has the nerve to pontificate about people who buck congressional subpoenas when he prominently chose to ignore one of his own.
Keilar anchored the CNN News Central discussion on Wednesday about Hunter Biden’s surprise Capitol Hill appearance and the possible ramifications from the political bickering that it caused. As Ron Brownstein hypothesized that Republicans are trying to magnify Biden’s legal troubles to deflect from Donald Trump’s, Keilar pointed out “there is some clear hypocrisy” about when people decide they’re going to comply with a congressional subpoena.
“It should mean something,” said Keilar, “but we hear Jim Jordan saying this is blatant contempt, and it’s like, duuude! You defied a member of Congress! And you defied a congressional subpoena to talk about clearly something that you should have talked about!”
Keilar was referring to the longstanding scrutiny Jordan has received for defying a subpoena that compelled him to testify before the January 6th investigative committee. Representatives Jared Moskowitz (D-FL) and Eric Swalwell (D-CA) both called Jordan out on this, and Keilar said to her colleagues, “It’s just a shame where we are, that it means nothing. It means less than it should.”
