Former Whitewater Federal Prosecutor: Rudy Giuliani’s Fox News Interview Like a ‘Murder-Suicide’

Former federal prosecutor Solomon Wisenberg compared Rudy Giuliani‘s bombshell interview Wednesday night with Fox News host Sean Hannity to a “murder-suicide.”

Wisenberg, who served as deputy independent counsel during the Whitewater investigation and questioned former President Bill Clinton before a grand jury, made the comment Thursday to CNN’s Dana Bash.

“I liken it to a murder-suicide. He [Giuliani] metaphorically murdered the president and committed suicide with respect to his own reputation,” Wisenberg said.

The former federal prosecutor, who now works for the Washington, D.C. law firm Nelson Mullins, added, “When you’re representing anybody, much less the president of the United States, you know that when you go on television and make statements on his behalf, that’s admissible in court.”

Wisenberg’s comments came the morning after Giuliani told Hannity that Trump repaid his longtime personal attorney Michael Cohen $130,000 in hush money to porn star Stormy Daniels over an alleged affair the president had with her a decade earlier. Cohen paid Daniels the substantial sum just days before the November 2016 election.

Trump denied less than one month ago that he knew about the $130,000 payment to Daniels, which Trump critics say could amount to an FEC violation. In light of Giuliani’s comments Wednesday night, the credibility of Trump’s denial aboard Air Force One that he knew about the hush money is, at best, up in the air.
