Fox News’ Ed Henry: WHCA Owes Apology to Sarah Sanders for ‘Disgusting’ Jokes

After some of the jokes told at last night’s White House Correspondents Dinner, Fox News correspondent Ed Henry thinks Sarah Huckabee Sanders deserves an apology.

Appearing on Fox & Friends Sunday, Henry called President Donald Trump‘s Michigan rally the previous night “a contrast” to the tone of the dinner hosted by comedian Michelle Wolf, who he called “mean, hateful” and “vile.”

“I was there for it,” Henry said. “It was disgusting, despicable. Sarah Sanders should get an apology from the White House Correspondents Association… and what a contrast to what the president was doing. Talking about issues people actually care about.”

While Henry had previously thought Trump should make an appearance at the dinner rather than skipping again, the Fox correspondent has since changed his mind.

“I was wrong,” he said. “He’s never gonna go to this dinner and he shouldn’t. What happened to Sarah Sanders last night was disgusting, and I say that as a former president of the White House Correspondents Association who oversaw that dinner in 2013. It was awful.”

Henry proposed that the WHCA issue an official apology to Sanders for the jabs from Wolf, which included remarks on her name, her appearance, and her carefully crafted statements at daily press briefings.

“Bottom line is, by the briefing tomorrow, I hope the association sees the need [for an apology],” Henry said.
