Fox News’ Shepard Smith: ‘We Know the President Was Not Telling the Truth’ About Payments

On Friday, the news broke that Trump Organization chief financial officer Allen Weisselberg, the man who allegedly helped arrange the hush money deal with former Trump fixer Michael Cohen had received immunity by federal prosecutors in New York.

Referring to the news, Fox News’ Shepard Smith played audio, first obtained by CNN, of Cohen and Donald Trump referencing Weisselberg when talking about the payment.

Smith then reminded all that it was not too long ago when Trump claimed he didn’t even know about the payments.

“Remember, the president first said he did not know about the hush money payments in advance,” Smith began. “His then-aide, Hope Hicks, said we know nothing of the payments. His spokespersons Raj Shah and Sarah Sanders both said that the president denied knowledge of the payments. Michael Cohen said the president knew nothing of the payments. Cohen’s attorney, David Schwartz, said the President was not aware of any of it. Four months ago, President Trump himself denied knowing about a payment. Asked directly on Air Force One, ‘Did you know?’ [Trump replied,] ‘No.'”

The Fox News host then said this: “Now we know the president was not telling the truth.”
